Welcome City Freshers - FREE Beginner's Class!

We will be having a dedicated beginner's class on Mon 9th Oct (19:30) at CitySport, where you can come and try Shorinji Kempo - absolutely FREE!  

All you need to do is bring a water bottle, some enthusiasm and wear something comfortable to train in, e.g. gym kit.  

What to expect:-
  • A great will get sweaty!
  • Padwork - have fun letting out your frustrations out when punching and kicking the pads,
  • Entertainment - watch the instructors and senior students being thrown around demonstrating some of the more advanced techniques

BSKF Summer Camp - September 2017

This year's fantastic BSKF Summer Camp took place over the weekend of 15th-17th September at the Kingswood Dearne Valley near Doncaster. This annual residential training course, provides an immersive experience for kenshi (students) to practice the three essential elements of Shorinji Kempo:-

Healthy Body

Some light stretching helps to release tension in tired muscles after a tough training session.  General body maintenance is essential to ensure that you remain in good physical condition by preventing injuries. 
Healthy Mind 

A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body to help you keep your composure under pressure.  So we practice Zazen meditation as part of every class, focusing on posture, breathing and concentration to improve overall awareness.  Because if you are able to remain calm during a confrontation, you will make the right decisions and ensure you have the upper hand.

Self Defence

Practical self defence, even against much larger opponents, stems from your ability to move and evade strikes, putting yourself in the right position to take advantage of the situation.  Shorinji Kempo teaches functional techniques that enable you to stay safe, first and foremost, as well as how to use your bodyweight to deliver powerful strikes to the natural weak points on the body.  So whatever your size, shape or general fitness level, you can learn how to control the situation
