BSKF Summer Camp - September 2017

This year's fantastic BSKF Summer Camp took place over the weekend of 15th-17th September at the Kingswood Dearne Valley near Doncaster. This annual residential training course, provides an immersive experience for kenshi (students) to practice the three essential elements of Shorinji Kempo:-

Healthy Body

Some light stretching helps to release tension in tired muscles after a tough training session.  General body maintenance is essential to ensure that you remain in good physical condition by preventing injuries.
Healthy Mind

A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body to help you keep your composure under pressure.  So we practice Zazen meditation as part of every class, focusing on posture, breathing and concentration to improve overall awareness.  Because if you are able to remain calm during a confrontation, you will make the right decisions and ensure you have the upper hand.

Self Defence

Practical self defence, even against much larger opponents, stems from your ability to move and evade strikes, putting yourself in the right position to take advantage of the situation.  Shorinji Kempo teaches functional techniques that enable you to stay safe, first and foremost, as well as how to use your bodyweight to deliver powerful strikes to the natural weak points on the body.  So whatever your size, shape or general fitness level, you can learn how to control the situation

Highlights from BSKF Summer Camp 2016

Another great weekend of training at this year's BSKF Summer Camp, held at the spectacular Smallwood Manor in Staffordshire.  This regular annual event enables BSKF members from all over the country to come together, learn from world class instructors and have some fun putting their new skills to the test at a residential training camp.  It is also particularly nice to loosen off in the indoor heated swimming pool after a hard day's training!

Beginners class 27th April

We are excited to be launching a new monthly beginners class at CitySport. The first Monday of every month, 8-9pm, will be a dedicated beginners session instead of our regular class.

Although they will usually be the first Monday, due to the bank holidays, the first one will be Monday 27th April.

If you're interested in trying Shorinji kempo, why not come along and give it a go.

Our regular drop in fees apply, but include one month's trial insurance too. There's no obligation - you can carry on coming along and paying drop in rates until the month's trial insurance is up, then you'll need to sign up for full annual membership of the BSKF if you'd like to continue.
